A plea to give Bobby Lou the “C”

I must’ve missed this online petition when I was away.

Mr. Bettman,

More than 2,200 Vancouver Sun readers have spoken and implore you to alter National Hockey League rules to allow Vancouver Canucks goaltender Roberto Luongo to wear the ‘C’ as the team’s captain. The Canucks have named him their leader, on and off the ice, and we join fans of the team, and the league, in requesting you address this matter with the utmost urgency so he can finish the season recognized by the league as the team’s captain.

Enclosed in this package is a collection of names we received online. A reply would be appreciated as soon as possible so we can let fans know your response to this burning issue.

Thank you,

Mike Bell
Sports Editor
The Vancouver Sun

I’ve already made my thoughts on this subject known in this post but I’ll say it again. The rule that disallows Luongo to wear the “C” is archaic and has no relevance to the game. Just let him wear it for crying out loud.

If you’re with me, make sure you add your name to the petition – click here to get there. There’s 2,200 signatures right now but I’m sure more Canucks fans are willing to support it. We almost sent Rory Fitzpatrick to the All-Star game. Surely we can get enough fans to sign this petition to the NHL to get rid of this stupid rule.
