Gendur, Ellington continue climb

With prodigy Cody Hodgson and the intriguing Russian Sergei Shirokov grabbing the headier storylines for the forwards in the Vancouver Canucks rookie camp, Dan Gendur of Victoria continues his quieter quest to move up the hockey ladder.

Fellow Victorian Taylor Ellington, meanwhile, has seen the recent flurry of blue-line veterans acquired by the Canucks and must know his fate is to also begin his pro career in the minors.

Having a season in the minors under his belt, with nine goals and 38 points in 52 games with the hometown Victoria Salmon Kings of the ECHL, Gendur is a year ahead of his buddy Ellington on the pro learning curve.
