Demitra’s New Role

As we’ve seen, no line is set. AV will experiment with Demitra over the next few games (once he gets his legs) to see where he best fits.

Alas, the real experiment should be trying to find the guy to replace Wellwood. You can’t be snake bit for half a season and counting and expect to be carried. He just looks awful out there. Get someone in with energy.

Don’t forget Bernier when he comes back. A 3rd line of Demitra-Wellwood-Bernier is pretty damn good. It’s not a traditional checkling line, but they’re a defensively-responsible enough line with some offensive potential.

Demitra is Wellwood’s replacement or he is trade bait. I’d prefer to see Wellwood in Manitoba, but there seems to be some interest from the Rangers in Demitra.

Either way, Demitra is a “problem” every team wishes to have. Should we put him on the 3rd line to raise their caliber of play, or place him as a possible trade? All I wish for Demitra is that he recovers as best as he can, and puts the puck in the back of the net with his line.

If Demitra would go to NY, it would be interesting to see what we would get for him . . .
