Ryan Kesler is Blue and Green for Six more years
- Well, I was totally shocked to wake up to this news this morning. The Canucks wanted to keep Kes and Kes wanted to stay but I was prepared for the fact that nothing would be worked out until the off season. WOW. Six years with about a $5 million cap hit is really great considering Kes does a litle bit of everything. All his scoring, grit, defensive selke worthy play, (did you know he is only second to Pavel Datsyuk for takeaways in the NHL? Wowee) penalty killing, and trash talk are ours to enjoy for ages. Hooray!
– With Kes locked up and Luongo, Hank and Danny, Edler, and Burrows already taken care of, that’s a REALLY nice core to have. Hodgson and Schrodeur and Grabby can potentially make the big boys in the next couple of seasons and well that’s looking like a very exciting young team to watch. Gillis deserves some major fist bumps for getting these deals done and thank you Dave Nonis for matching that offer sheet way back when.
– Last night’s game was delightful. Luongo was a stud and the game winning goal was for me personally the best stat line I could ask for. A Ry Jo goal from Mermaid AND Shane baybee. My three FAVES! Oh I was practically fainting. Shane in particular was fabulous. He was hitting hard, making smart clears on the penalty kill, and even drew a penalty instead of taking one. If he keeps playing like that AV would have to be crazy to scratch him again. The Sharks have burned us several times in the last two seasons and it was nice to see the Canucks with a convincing win.
Let’s finish this post with a Kes blingee. *May cause seizures. Please use caution*
