Should Tamby Stay?

The Canucks have to make a decision on Jeff Tambellini.

If they decide to send him back to the Manitoba Moose this weekend, he won’t need to go through waivers. If they decide to keep him past the weekend, he would lose his waiver exemption.

Since being given a spot on the one of the top two lines, Tambellini has been productive. In 3 games on the Sedins’ line prior to being sent down to Manitoba earlier this month, he potted 2 goals. In 2 games on the Kesler’s and Raymond’s line this week, he has a goal and an assist.

If anything, Tambellini’s play has allowed the Canucks to move Samuelsson to the third line and Hansen to the fourth line, and thus spreading their offense further down the lineup – a depth that was very much evident in last night’s 6-1 win against the San Jose Sharks.

Can he keep this up? If he wants to stick around the Canucks, he knows he has to.

But with the 30-day waiver clock ticking down and the Canucks not playing again until Wednesday, maybe the better question is, has he proven enough to warrant a longer look – maybe even a permanent stint – with the team?

Keep Tamby. He has proven himself. He has played for other pro teams and now shows he is ready to stick with the Canucks.

Yes. Tambellini is a very skilled shooter and skater, and playing along Kesler, he’s only going to get better without the puck.
