If there is one thing that we at CHB love to do, it’s to have good times with good people. We’ve held tweetups, group games, and for those of you old enough – drunk-ups (even if J.J. doesn’t remember them)!

no5 Garrison – courtesy of Jay Jones

With us filming our next episode of CHB TV this Sunday, we’re breaking out of our usual confines at the Hog Shack Cook House in Steveston and will be heading to the Donnelly Group’s Library Square Public House, centrally located in downtown Vancouver. What’s so exciting about this you ask?

And we want you all to join us! (assuming you’re of legal drinking age of course)

Now if having us make you famous with CHB TV isn’t enough to draw you out, our friends at the Donnelly Group are looking to provide a good time for all with a number of specials just for us, including the showcase of some Canuck-themed beverages – the no5 Garrison above and a few more that Jay Jones, the Executive Bartender & Brand Ambassador for the Donnelly Group, can whip up.

You’re interested aren’t you? Here are the deets:

Where: Library Square Public House, 300 West Georgia Street, Vancouver BC
When: Sunday, April 7th, 2013 – 12:30 PM to 4:30 PM (filming starts at 2:00 PM)
Who: You – our readers and tweeps (of legal drinking age)

Now sure there isn’t a Canuck game on Sunday, but that shouldn’t stop us all getting together to talk puck over a beverage or two with your favourite CHBers. And answer questions like – did Gillis do enough on Wednesday’s trade deadline? Or an even more pertinent question on all of our minds – has the “window” closed?

Mind-blowing stuff for sure! Thankfully there will be beverages to help us handle it all.

We hope to see you all there!

Chicago Wolves

Every year when the Canucks’ affiliate comes to town, CHB gets a group together to check out the prospects. Of course for years, we watched the Moose; this year we get our first look at the Chicago Wolves.

When the Wolves come to town in a few weeks to play against the Abbotsford Heat. I want to get a group of people to head out to Abbotsford and watch the Canucks prospects hard at work. When we went last year, the crowd was a solid 50/50 split of Moose and Heat fans. Every time we started a “Go Moose Go” chant it was countered by a “Go Heat Go” chant. The game was a blast – there’s nothing quite the same as watching the prospects give it their all to get noticed by the big team.

The games versus the Canucks’ AHL affiliates are some of the few that the Heat sell out all season – and they’re definitely a good time.

GAME DETAILS

When: Wednesday, January 25th, 2012 (there’s no Canucks game that night) at 7:00 PM
Where: Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Center
What: Chicago Wolves vs Abbotsford Heat
Tickets: Tickets are $25 each if we get a group of 10 or more people. We’ll be sitting together and making sure that Canucks (Wolves) Nation is well represented at the game.

Last year we carpooled and groups of us headed out. You can drive to Abbotsford on your own, or let us know if you’d like to organize a carpool. If anyone’s up for it, we can also meet up and get together for a group dinner at the restaurant across from the arena.

Are you in? Send me an email at rloat@canuckshockeyblog.com and we can reserve a spot for you.

Some of you may have noticed my absence from the blog lately, and it’s because there’s something very exciting in the works. I’m organizing an event called Five Hole for Food. I’m driving from Montreal to Vancouver playing road hockey in the two aforementioned cities as well as Ottawa, Toronto, Winnipeg, Regina, Calgary, Edmonton and Victoria, raising food for local food banks.

The trip spans nine cities in eleven days and sees us start in Montreal on June 29th and ending in Vancouver on July 9th. We’re proudly backed by Molson Canadian as our presenting sponsor and Boston Pizza and I couldn’t be more excited to be playing hockey across this beautiful country.

As we go from city to city we’re looking for people to play and with that in mind if you’re a reader of this blog in any of the cities we’re visiting I would love to meet you and have you play in our game.

As a neat addition and extra Canucks twist we’re very proud to have partnered with “King” Richard Brodeur as a celebrity ambassador of our event and couldn’t be more excited, and humbled, to have the Canucks legend not only support our event but be a part of our team!

You can follow us on Twitter at @FiveHoleForFood
Check us out on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/fiveholeforfood
We’ll be on Youtube at http://www.youtube.com/user/fiveholeforfood

As reported by the Vancouver Observer, City Hall has announced tomorrow, April 27th 2010, as “Canucks Day”!

The media is being invited tomorrow to join Mayor Robertson and Council, Canucks Sports and Entertainment owner Francesco Aquilini, President and General Manager Mike Gillis and Chief Operating Officer Victor de Bonis to an event commemorating the day.

The Mayor will read a proclamation for Canucks Day, and the Canucks flag will be raised for the day at City Hall. The Canucks mascot, Fin, will hand out white towels to help the public cheer on the city’s home team.

As if Canuck fever needed anything more to propel it, I hope someone takes the time to head down to City Hall and take some pictures. It’s an off day before the Canucks second round date in the Stanley Cup Finals so have fun, wear your colours loud and proud, and Go Canucks Go!

I love hockey, we all love hockey, and since the weather is gorgeous and the world is in town for a couple weeks why not show them some real Canadian spirit and play some road hockey right? And while we’re at it, where else to play other than right outside the mother of all hockey venues, the Molson Canadian Hockey House. It should be a blast so tell your friends and hopefully we get a large crowd together to watch us all play!

Who: Us, and you if you want to play!
What: Red vs White Team Canada road hockey game
Where: Outside the Molson Canadian Hockey House in Concord Pacific Place. You can get there by getting off the Skytrain at the Canada Hockey Place stop.
When: Tuesday February 23rd from 12 noon – 4PM Thursday February 25th from 3:30 – 6pm

If you want to play leave a comment here and we’ll get back to you, and if you don’t come on by and watch. Heck, if you’re nearby for work, and on your lunch break come watch for a bit. It promises to be a fun lead up to the hockey games that afternoon!

GO Canada GO!

Hey guys,

The next Canucks tweetup has a date and a time and I’m hoping you can all make it out! You don’t have to be on Twitter to come, but if you are it’s even better!

Who: You!
What: Canucks vs Blues
Where: The Lamplighter (210 Abbott St, Vancouver, BC V6B 2K8)
When: January 27th 2010 at 630 PM

Why: Because you love the Canucks and want to meet more awesome Canucks fans! Right? You do love the Canucks? If not, you need to start. Like now. Well actually about 30 seconds ago. You get the point.

Come meet the Canucks Fanzone Bloggers from CanucksHockeyBlog.com and CanucksCorner.com and Canucks fans from Facebook and Twitter as we all get together as the online world meets the real world to cheer on the Canucks and put names to faces!

Your laptops are welcome if you want to tweet, live blog or whatever else, and we encourage pictures! Take twitpics, pictures for your blog, for your site, to send to Canucks.com, whatever have you. We’re breaking down the barrier between the fans and the team and we want to connect as many Canucks fans as possible.

There’s going to be great prizes from signed pucks to shirts, calendars to bags, lots of cool stuff and there’s always great people to meet. Stay tuned for more info but last time we even gave away tickets to the game.

If you’re coming, or even if you’re not, leave an RSVP here so we know you at least want to come. If nothing else, leave a comment telling us how much you love the Canucks. We all love to see Canucks love!

I’ve been planning this for a while and finally it’s going to happen. I’ve always wanted to go watch the Canucks play on the road, and I hope nothing more than to walk out as the winning fan. I’m heading to Calgary on Friday for the start of a Canucks weekend which includes a HNIC Tweetup and a roadtrip up to Edmonton to watch the Canucks play at Rexall Place as well.

I’ll be in Calgary for the game Friday night and then Saturday there’s a “Canucks Crash Calgary” Tweetup I’m throwing at Melrose to watch the Canucks play the Wild on Hockey Night in Canada. If you’re coming RSVP Here so that I have a good idea of who to expect and so I can save you a seat. If you’re not on Twitter but want to drop by, I know the more Canucks fans there the better. We’re in the heart of enemy territory so I’m all for parting the sea of red with a wave of blue. I’ll be driving up to Edmonton for the game on Monday so if any Canucks fans want to meet up for a pre-game meal and drinks let me know and we can get together!

I’ll be tweeting the whole trip (if you’re not following me, find me here, I’m @Mozy19) as can be expected, and fully expect to cause trouble in Flames Nation. I was told there’s nothing better than the feeling of walking out of the Saddledome after a Canucks win, I have my fingers crossed. I hope to have one day been to a game in every NHL arena, this is knocking two more off that list. Might have to make a stop in Phoenix soon as they might join the defunct teams list some time soon.

Mason Raymond celebrates a goal

The Vancouver Sun printed this hilarious picture from last night’s Canucks win against the Habs. Caption it and we’ll give away another pair of tickets for Saturday’s Open Practice; these tickets are in section 111, row 4 – that’s four rows from the ice.

Post your caption in the comments; if you’d much rather tweet it, use the hashtag #CHB. I know it’s hard considering the nature of the photo, but please try to keep your caption somewhat PG-13. :P

I’ll keep this contest open until noon tomorrow.

[update: October 9, 2009, 12:58 PM]

And the winner of these Open Practice tickets is… Naomi!

Thanks to everyone for your creative comments!
