Henrik and Daniel Sedin at Canucks Open Practice

Not that we’re pressing the panic button (yet) but there are certainly some troubling things ailing the 0-3 Vancouver Canucks. What would Mike Gillis do? What would you do? I shared my thoughts on this topic this morning and now it’s time you share yours.

For your troubles, we’re giving away a pair of tickets to the Canucks Open Practice this Saturday at 11:00 AM. The seats are in section 118, row 1 – that’s ice level next to the benches folks!

To get your name in the draw, let us know what you think the Canucks should do to right the ship. You can leave a comment below this post. If you want to comment via Twitter, make sure you use the hashtag #CHB. We’ll pick out a winner – random draw – tomorrow night after the Habs game.

[update: October 8, 2009, 8:03 AM]

Thank you everyone for your tweets and comments. After a random draw, the winner of the Open Practice Tickets is… VanCity Allie!

Stay tuned – we’ve got another pair of tickets to give out.

Canucks Fan Zone

In partnership with the Vancouver Canucks, the members of the Canucks Fan Zone – that would Richard, Alix and I, and Brian, Rebecca, John, Dave, Sean and Mike and other Canucks bloggers – are hosting the first-ever Official Canucks Tweetup.

If you want to watch tomorrow night’s preseason game vs. the Anaheim Ducks with your fellow Canucks fans and debate Bure vs. Mogilny vs. Shirokov, Linden vs. Hodgson, or Raycroft vs. Schneider, come by The Hurricane Grill in Yaletown. The game starts at 7:00 PM but we’ll be there before that, hoping to meet some of you who regularly read this blog. If that’s not incentive enough, the Canucks and The Hurricane Grill have graciously arranged for prizes (i.e. swag, gift certificates, etc.) throughout the night.

Hope to see you there!

Kudos to Brian Comptom from NHL.com for sharing the Canucks’ roster and game sheet for tonight’s game:

Don’t have much info as to who is playing for the Islanders tonight, as the game sheet I’ve been given basically includes every player who was invited to their camp.

As for Vancouver, captain/goaltender Roberto Luongo is not here. The two goalies listed are Andrew Raycroft and Corey Schneider.

Defensemen are as follows: Kevin Bieksa, Willie Mitchell, Aaron Rome, Brad Lukowich, Nolan Baumgartner, Yann Sauve, Shane O’Brien and Evan Oberg.

Forwards: Dave Scatchard, Ronald Petrovicky, Jannik Hansen, Rick Rypien, Michael Grabner, Kyle Wellwood, Alexandre Bolduc, Eric Walsky, Guillaume Desbiens, Mario Bliznak, Pierre-Cedric Labrie and Sergei Shirokov.

Hockey Pool Girl

Okay boys and girls – it’s hockey pool time!

CHB has set up a hockey pool on Yahoo Sports. If you have a Yahoo account, you’re free to join.

It’s a rotisserie league, which means you’re ranked according to various statistical categories:

In a Rotisserie League, fantasy teams are ranked from first to last in each of several statistical categories. Points are then awarded according to the order of finish in each category and are totaled to determine an overall score and place.

I thought about doing a straight-up points league, but I figured the rotisserie set-up would be more interesting as you’d need to also draft players who are good at other areas of the game besides scoring.

Right now, we’re playing for pride (and fun, of course), though I’ll see what I can get from the Canucks in terms of swag.

Draft will be done live and online on Monday, September 28 at 6:30 PM. You have to be present at the draft. If you’re interested – and available to draft on the 28th – send me an email at gocanucksgo10@hotmail.com or leave a comment with your email address and I’ll send you the password. We can only take a maximum of 20 teams so it’ll be first-come, first-serve.

BTW… If you’re looking for a good source of hockey pool information, let me plug the Fantasy Hockey Scouts – good guys who are also part of the Score Federation.

Let the games begin!
