Congratulations to A-Roc for guessing ALL 23 Team Canada players! Pretty damn impressive. We’ll send him the signed Ryan Kesler photo and the 2010 Men’s Olympic Hockey Team Guide.

Hockey Canada 2010

Team Sweden released their 2010 Olympic roster today, and to no one’s surprise, Henrik and Daniel Sedin were named to the team Former Canuck Mattias Ohlund is on the roster as well; current Canuck Mikael Samuelsson isn’t. Other Canucks still being considered to represent their respective countries include: Roberto Luongo (Canada), Ryan Kesler (USA), Christian Ehrhoff (Germany) and Sami Salo (Finland). (I’m not sure if Pavol Demitra is still in the running for Team Slovakia considering he has still yet to play a game this season.)

Team Belarus and Team Russia already released their rosters earlier.

Team Canada is scheduled to name their roster on Wednesday, December 30. That silence you hear is every Canadian dropping what they’re doing at 9:00 AM to see who Hockey Canada has named to carry the weight of an entire nation.

Anyway, because we’re all excited about this, Richard came up with this brilliant idea to hold a contest on this blog as to who can most accurately predict Team Canada’s roster. Here’s the deal:

  • In the comments section of this post, name the 23 players you think Steve Yzerman and company will name to Team Canada’s Olympic roster on December 30th. Whoever guesses the most number of players correctly wins.
  • If there’s a tie, we’ll randomly draw a name among those who had guessed the most number of correct players.
  • We’ll give out a signed Ryan Kesler photo (courtesy of the Vancouver Canucks and Canucks Fan Zone) and a copy of the 2010 Men’s Olympic Hockey Team Guide.
  • We’ll cut off responses at 9:00 PM on Tuesday, December 29.

And go!

PS. Just for fun, we here at CHB will share our picks as well, but don’t worry… we’ll declare ourselves ineligible to win the swag.

The Vancouver Sun printed this hilarious picture from last night’s Canucks win against the Habs. Caption it and we’ll give away another pair of tickets for Saturday’s Open Practice; these tickets are in section 111, row 4 – that’s four rows from the ice.

Post your caption in the comments; if you’d much rather tweet it, use the hashtag #CHB. I know it’s hard considering the nature of the photo, but please try to keep your caption somewhat PG-13. :P

I’ll keep this contest open until noon tomorrow.

And the winner of these Open Practice tickets is… Naomi!

Thanks to everyone for your creative comments!

Not that we’re pressing the panic button (yet) but there are certainly some troubling things ailing the 0-3 Vancouver Canucks. What would Mike Gillis do? What would you do? I shared my thoughts on this topic this morning and now it’s time you share yours.

For your troubles, we’re giving away a pair of tickets to the Canucks Open Practice this Saturday at 11:00 AM. The seats are in section 118, row 1 – that’s ice level next to the benches folks!

To get your name in the draw, let us know what you think the Canucks should do to right the ship. You can leave a comment below this post. If you want to comment via Twitter, make sure you use the hashtag #CHB. We’ll pick out a winner – random draw – tomorrow night after the Habs game.

Thank you everyone for your tweets and comments. After a random draw, the winner of the Open Practice Tickets is… VanCity Allie!

Stay tuned – we’ve got another pair of tickets to give out.
