“(The Cup) was above my head, and I was thinking of just one person – Luc. This was for him from me.”

Kris Letang. That’s just so beautiful. Oh Tangers. He’s a beauty. Enjoy your summer with the Cup, Tangers. It’s well deserved

The NHLPA is doing a good thing (Vancouver Sun):

The National Hockey League Players’ Association (NHLPA) announced Monday that hockey fans and friends of the late Luc Bourdon of the Vancouver Canucks will be able to support the Luc Bourdon Memorial Fund through an online eBay.ca auction that was launched on Saturday. All proceeds raised will support scholarships and various youth-related initiatives in honour of Bourdon.

The auction features hockey memorabilia donated by NHLPA members, NHL clubs and various hockey organizations. Notable items donated to the auction include a Sidney Crosby autographed stick, Nicklas Lidstrom- and Saku Koivu-autographed jerseys, and NHL team-signed jerseys. The Canucks donated numerous auction items including Roberto Luongo’s blocker and glove and an autographed Luongo jersey.

If you’re still looking for a Christmas present for your hockey-loving loved ones, the eBay auction page is here.

Last night’s ceremony to honor Luc Bourdon was simple and touching. With the entire Canucks team surrounding them on the ice, members of the Canucks staff behind the benches and Canucks fans standing in their seats or watching on TV, Luc’s family stood on GM Place ice. They fought back tears while remembering the life of Luc, one that was too promising but too short. Alex Burrows and Roberto Luongo presented them with Luc’s last game-worn jersey and Tom Cochrane came out and played “Big League” alongside a video tribute showing highlights of Luc’s life.

Like Chris Zimmerman promised, it was an appropriate tribute and certainly one we won’t forget. That the entire Canucks family was represented wasn’t lost. We are all Canucks, as they say, and Luc forever is one.
