The Game According to Twitter: Canucks 5 vs. Flames 4 (OT)

Welcome to the second TGATT of the Canucks 2013/14 season. Well, really it should’ve been the third by J.J. decided it was a good idea to get all hooped up on mai tais in Hawaii and dropped the ball! Talk about letting down the team, eh? Anyhow, what did we expect from the Canucks last night? The lackluster effort like we saw in San Jose or the beating we saw them lay against the Oilers at home Saturday? Didn't want to say it, but saw that coming. #canucks — Linds (@feedmehappy) October 7, 2013 Sure you did.

Canucks vs. Flames Game Day Preview: Reset vs. Rebuild

Photo credit: canucks.com Lately, the Calgary Flames seem to cure all things that ail the Vancouver Canucks. In the last 3 seasons, the Canucks have a 13-3-2 record against the Flames and have outscored them by a combined scored of 60-35 in those 18 outings. For all their offensive struggles in recent times (last night’s 6-goal explosion against the Oilers aside), they’ve somehow managed to average 3.33 goals per game against these Alberta rivals. These days, both teams are going through somewhat of a transition period. The Canucks, of course, are still learning a new system under new head coach,...

I hope everyone got off work in time, because this game is not waiting for you. Seriously, they’re not waiting for anyone, not even Eddie Lack.

The Wolves This Week: One-on-One with GM Wendell Young

The Wolves This Week: One-on-One with GM Wendell Young

Photo credit: Chicago Wolves The Canucks’ new AHL affiliate, the Chicago Wolves, finally won their first game of the season the other night, a 2-0 shutout of the Rockford IceHogs. To help Canucks fans learn more about the organization from the Chicago suburb of Rosemont, Illinois, we had an opportunity to ask Wolves GM Wendell Young some questions and he obliged: CHB: You started your NHL career with the Vancouver Canucks and played your last game as a pro with the Chicago Wolves. What were your first thoughts when the Wolves and the Canucks organizations formed this new affiliation? Wendell...

2011 NHL Entry Draft Talk: Prospects in the System

2011 NHL Entry Draft Talk: Prospects in the System

Photo credit: theahl.com Now that Vancouver Canucks fans have (we hope) managed to begin the healing process from the emotional rollercoaster of the 2011 Playoffs, it’s time to shift the focus to the 2011 Draft, where the building blocks for future success are put in place. Given that the 2011 crop has, for some time, been viewed as a generally weaker class than previous years, perhaps the Canucks would be best served to once again parlay their first-round selection in order to acquire the talent needed to win right now. But seeing as how the club already forked over their...

2010 Canucks Training Camp: Day 1 Thoughts

2010 Canucks Training Camp: Day 1 Thoughts

The CHB crew are up here in Penticton for Canucks training camp. The 58-man camp kicked off today and here are some things I noticed from day 1: Eddie Lack looked good. The 6’5″ goaltender is the tallest of those checking into camp and covered a lot of space in net. Given Cory Schneider is likely going to be Luongo’s back up, Lack looks poised to take that starter’s position with the Moose. Billy Sweatt (Canucks fans’ newest favourite Twitterer – follow him at @billysweatt) looked very good out there. He’s got great speed and seemed to always have the...

Time is on their side

Time is on their side

5YBG4ACA42FP To hear Ed Willes (Vancouver Province) talk about it, the recently-concluded Canucks Young Stars Tournament was an exercise in futility. Add it all up and the consensus is it would be a stunning upset if anyone from this camp, other than Schroeder, opened the season with the big team. There are some intriguing figures. There are some projects who, in time, might make the NHL. But, in the absence of Cody Hodgson, there was no big news to come out of the Okanagan and that made the whole affair somewhat forgettable. While Willes is right that the none of...
