Clay and Marie get dressed up for their new song.

Last week, Canucks’ President Trevor Linden named Jim Benning (affectionately referred to as “Jimmy B” for the purposes of our video) as the 11th General Manager in franchise history.

As soon as the hire was officially announced, a few of my Twitter friends had song suggestions for me.  But Steve May went one step further: he wrote an entire song and sent the lyrics to me.

Thus, I proudly present to you my latest Clay’s Canucks Composition: “Jimmy B” an ode to new General Manager Jim Benning to the tune of The Beatles’ classic “Let it Be”.

As always, I’m joined by the amazing Marie Hui; there is absolutely nothing that this girl can’t sing!

After a tumultuous and unpredictable season (and off-season), Roberto Luongo is back in the crease as the Vancouver Canucks’ undisputed number one goaltender.  There is no doubt that the past 18 months have taken its toll on Bobby Lu.

Thus, I proudly present to you Luongo’s Lament to the tune of Phil Collins’ hit Against All Odds.  And I’m so proud to welcome my friends Marie Hui and Arielle Tuliao as the featured vocalists.  You’ll see that they are lovely, talented, and amazing.

With Cory Schneider returning with his new team – the New Jersey Devils – on Tuesday, I thought it would an appropriate time to present this song.  Enjoy!

After a shaky start to their current six-game road trip, I thought I would bring in a ringer to help me with latest CCC in an attempt to encourage, inspire and affirm the Canucks. Thus, I’m blessed welcome my good friend and anthem singer for the Vancouver Whitecaps FC: the beautiful and talented Marie Hui (http://www.mariehui.com).

We put together three songs that touch on the three positional facets of the game: our defencemen, our forwards, and our goaltenders.

For the D, we change up the words to Michael Jackson’s hit “Man in the Mirror” and wind up with “Men at the Rear.”

For the forwards, we concentrate on one in particular in David Booth as he asks for some more “Fireworks” (Katy Perry). (Please note that we recorded this a few hours prior to his big game against the Blackhawks.)

Lastly, we do our rendition of Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep” with “Goalies in the Crease.”

And if you make it to the end…there’s a small blooper reel for your enjoyment!
