You Be The Judge: Should Andrew Ference be suspended?
Only a day after the NHL suspended Alex Burrows for 3 games for a headshot on Alexei Emelin, Andrew Ference of the Edmonton Oilers nailed Zack Kassian in the head last night during the Canucks’ 3-2 win over the Oilers.
It was a dirty hit to the head – the ref gave Ference an illegal hit to the head penalty on the play – that made the official Oilers Twitter account all giddy.
BAM! @Ferknuckle flattens Kassian.

While the hit wasn’t late like Burrows, it’s clear that Ference leaves his feet, elevates his shoulders, and hits Kassian in the head. Not to mention that Ference is a repeat offender, having been suspended previously for a headshot on Mikhail Grabovski and a vicious hit from behind on Ryan McDonagh. If Burrows, who has never been suspended before, got 3 games for the same infraction, you be the judge, should Ference be suspended?
